The Force 10 System – Technical Information
The Force 10 prefabricated building system is a breakthrough in innovative construction and has been designed to use a minimum number of modular components. A galvanised steel frame is at the core of this system. The floor, wall and roofing systems are totally integrated and all components lock together easily and smoothly. The steel frame is made of BlueScope Australian steel.
The Force 10 Floor System
The Force 10 engineered flooring system has been designed to be installed easily either on steel stumps (piers) or traditional concrete footings. The time-saving benefits of using this type of flooring system compared to a conventional concrete slab are impressive. A concrete slab takes 7 or more days to cure (weather permitting) prior to the erection/construction of the building, but no such delays are incurred with the Force 10 flooring system. Ground preparation time and earth moving equipment are minimised by using steel stumps or the Mega Anchor System. These also allows the Force 10 floor system to be installed easily on sloping or uneven surfaces. However, if preferred and site conditions allow, a traditional concrete slab can be used instead of the flooring system.
Where foundation stumps are used they can be high-set or low-set to meet individual requirements. A Force 10 floor bolts together securely and is supported on adjustable steel stumps with concrete footings secured in the ground. The spacing of the bearers and joists are the essential elements of the flooring system, which increase the strength and rigidity in the design. The steel floor joists nest securely inside the structural bearers. When the bearers and joists have been bolted together, the floor sheeting is fixed to the frame. A Force 10 floor can be quickly adjusted to suit sloping terrain, and in areas prone to high rainfall or flooding, it is simple to re-adjust after any ground shift.
Force 10 Mega Anchor System
The Force 10 mega anchor system is a “no-concrete” footings solution that allows very fast floor system construction. The floor can be installed immediately after the mega anchors are in place as there are no footings to be dug.
The Force 10 Wall System
The Force 10 wall system is a structural insulated wall panel system, in which the panels are manufactured to close tolerance allowing the walls to be erected on site faster than normal construction projects. The structural insulated panels are manufactured in our factory in Brisbane (there is no on-site construction) and arrive on site finished, ready for setting and painting. Conventional building methods, however, require additional time for the construction, insulation and finishing of walls, followed by filling the nail and screw holes.
Force 10 manufactures the modular panels of the wall system with tight quality control tolerances which standardises quality. The steel frames are laid out on a jig and cement sheets bonded to them. This panel is inserted in a revolving carousel, and while being compressed by 70 tons of pressure, non-toxic foam, containing fire retardants, is injected to provide an impact resistant panel.
The thermal insulation properties using the Force 10 modular wall panel provides exceptional energy efficiency ratings. These insulation properties make Force 10 completely suitable for building in all areas.
The Force 10 internal wall panels can be designed with or without full height PVC conduit ducts to allow for electrical services. After erection, internal walls can be painted directly or dressed to suit. Force 10 External Wall panels can easily incorporate doorways, windows, and joinery panels in a wide variety of sizes to suit individuality and scope of design. External panels are ready to paint. Texture coating, plaster rendering or brick veneer are among the broad range of exterior options.
The Force 10 Roofing System
All Force 10 steel roof trusses are fully fabricated and trial assembled in the factory. The trusses are identified as to their type and design, then folded flat to produce a compact truss which is packaged and stacked in a container ready for shipping. This simple but important step greatly assists on-site productivity. The accuracy and efficiency of our pre-fab assembly is a highly valued labour saving feature of our system.
The Force 10 roofing system consists of two strong, lightweight steel sections. All sections nest together to allow effective mechanical jointing. No welding is used and protective coatings remain fully intact, minimizing the possibility of corrosion. Trusses fold flat for ease and economy of transport.
Integration of the floor, wall and roof systems
The three systems are fully integrated to ensure easy erection and maximum on site efficiency (See Figure 1. below which describes the Force 10 layout).

Please pass on our gratitude to the Design Team at Force 10 for not only the presentation provided, but also the speed at which it was delivered. There is no doubt this has been a challenging exercise for all concerned, but look what happens when like-minded people get together. This is without doubt one of the most innovative and exciting modular designs ever to be seen in this country. And everyone involved has a reason to feel proud and this will establish once and for all, that the opposition is dealing with “A Force 10 gale”. Thank you for all your patience and dedication.
