Group CEO takes the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout challenge

Group CEO of Queensland companies, Force 10 and Canstruct, Rory Murphy slept rough on June 16 – but it was all for a good cause. It was Rory’s first experience of the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Brisbane.

“It is quite an experience to sleep out in the park – how people do it night after night is difficult to fathom. Prior to participating I did not know that some 100,000 people sleep out every night and that 12,000 of these are 12 years or less.  It is unbelievable and depressing to know how many 12 year old kids live on the street.”

With the help of  family, friends, staff, colleagues and organisations Rory managed to raise $20,225 for the cause.  All money raised goes directly towards the ongoing provision of Vinnies’ homeless services across Australia.  Rory was in the top five fundraisers for Queensland, out of a total field of over 80 participating CEOs…not a bad effort for a first time fundraiser!

Rory is one of 86 CEOs in Queensland to take the challenge to experience homelessness first hand for one night.
