School Projects Delivered On-Time, Under-Budget
The Blackthorn ‘Kindy Kids’ Kindergarten, Charters Towers was built by Force 10 North Queensland with a very short time frame. The school council had already decided on a Community Open Day in August 2010, which they were not going to change. Yet the decision to move ahead was delayed in February until April. With short notice Force 10 modular building system was selected, Force 10 North Queensland designed the building and it was manufactured in Force 10s Brisbane factory, arriving on site in May.
Local builders worked with Force 10 North Queensland to complete the project within budget and on time before the Community Open Day. The modular nature of Force 10s structural insulated panels meant this project could be completed in a very short time. Had conventional building methods been used the building would not have been completed on time or open for business so soon.
Charters Towers is hot in summer so the children stay cool inside the Force 10 insulated building. Charters Towers is also in a cyclone prone region so Force 10 suits this area perfectly. The building is green and clean, and safe for children as Force 10 buildings have very low volitile organic compound emmisions.
The structure fits very well into the environment and the site – 3 years on there has been no maintenance issues and we are very happy with the outcome. Dr Roderick Crouch, Principal Moreton Bay Boys College – Brisbane.
